What is Cameryn’s Cause

Cameryn's Cause for Kids Society: A Legacy of Hope

Founded in 2007, Cameryn's Cause for Kids Society serves as a tribute to Cameryn Harris, who passed away at age three. Her family and friends, profoundly touched by the community's support during their difficult time, sought a way to give back.

Since then, the society has grown to be a beacon of hope, offering financial assistance to local families with a child facing a health crisis and also helping with funeral expenses in the event of a child’s death. Through this compassionate endeavor, Cameryn's legacy lives on, nurturing a sense of community and providing essential relief to families during their most challenging moments.

Managed by a dedicated small Board of Directors and staff, this non-profit organization operates without any government funding or grants. All financial resources are generated through our fundraising efforts and the generosity of community members and local businesses. To date, Cameryn’s Cause has distributed over $650,000 to more than 400 local families, demonstrating that when a community unites, remarkable things can be accomplished.

Cameryn’s Cause for Kids is truly a community organization created FOR the people of Campbell River and made possible BY the people of Campbell River.

At Cameryn’s Cause we use an experience based formula and work with health care professionals and hospital social workers to assess each families needs.

Whether it’s help with travel expenses, accommodations away from home or just some emergency funds to help parents get by while they are at their child’s side, we take pride in getting help to families quickly and efficiently.

Real, continually evolving impact, right here- at home in Campbell River.

The staff and board of directors work continually with other organizations and with feedback from the families we’ve helped to adjust to the needs of the community.
In the future the society is hoping to expand into assisting with expenses for mental health care and extend our reach to more of the smaller, outlying communities around Campbell River that don’t have access to similar support systems.
