It takes a lot of money to fund families through Cameryn's Cause and every little bit helps. To date we have been able to provide assistance to more than 400 local families in crisis, totalling more than $400,000. All of the funds we distribute are raised at our events, fundraised by the community or donated by generous businesses and individuals.

Here are some examples of the costs of having a child with a health crisis.

One day gas credit for medical travel $70.00-$100.00
​
One round trip to Vancouver on BC Ferries, including gas. Hotel not included. $270.00
​
Round trip to Nanaimo Hospital or Victoria Hospital, food and three nights hotel. $800.00-$1200.00

One week of accommodations in Vancouver near BC Childrens Hospital $1750.00-$2300.00

As you can see, the cost of having a sick child can be astronomical. Keep in mind that many of these families are required to be away for weeks, months or even a year at a time to have access to specialized medical care. While parents are at their child's bedside, the bills at home continue to come in. Mortgages, car payments, utilities and often childcare for other children can add greatly to the stress of families already in crisis.
